I’ve a confession to make. For a good six months before I signed a contract to publish my first novel Old School Ties, I spent almost as much time surfing the web reading other authors’ success stories, as I did writing the book. It was an addiction – I felt that it might somehow show me some secret strategy to find an agent and a publisher!

For what it’s worth, I now think finding a publisher or agent is a bit like dating – you want to find people you click with… in writing, it’s about finding people who believe in your work, and that when that happens it’s worth the flirtations you’ve had before you meet the ‘real thing.’ To help you find your literary soulmate, I’ve put together some advice and tools.
